Privacy

Spreuke is a reading site. There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no way for the site to ask who you are. It sets no cookies at all, runs no analytics, shows no ads, and loads nothing from anyone else while you read — so there is very little to explain here. This page explains it anyway.

Who is responsible

Spreuke (spreuke.app) is operated by FreeBeings.io LLC, 145 Pine Haven Shores Rd, Ste 1000A, Shelburne, Vermont 05482-7812, United States. FreeBeings.io LLC is the data controller.

What is collected

One thing: the ordinary technical traces that reaching any website produces. When your browser asks our host for a page, that request carries your IP address, your browser and device type, the page you asked for, and the time you asked. Our host keeps short-lived logs of this.

It is used to serve the site, to keep it secure, and to see traffic in aggregate at the network level. It is not joined to anything else, not used to build a profile, and not sold or shared. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

What is not collected

This list matters more than the one above, so it is worth being exact. Spreuke does not:

  • set any cookies, or store anything on your device — nothing to accept, so there is no consent banner;
  • run analytics of any kind — no Google Analytics, no page-view beacon, no session recording;
  • show ads, or carry advertising or tracking identifiers;
  • load anything from a third party while you read — no external fonts, scripts, embeds or images, so no other company learns you were here;
  • offer accounts, newsletters, comments or messages. There is no form on this site, so there is no way for you to hand over personal information even if you wanted to.

The site is also entirely static: your reading is not processed anywhere, because there is no application server and no database behind it.

Who else touches it

Cloudflare, Inc. — and nobody else. Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site (Cloudflare Pages), which means it receives and briefly logs the technical data described above, as our processor. Retention follows Cloudflare's own short rotation periods.

Cloudflare is a US company and some of this processing happens in the United States. Those transfers rely on the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and, as a fallback, the Standard Contractual Clauses in Cloudflare's data-processing terms.

Your rights

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or anywhere else with data-protection rights, you can ask for access to the personal data we hold about you, its correction or erasure, a copy of it, or a restriction on how it is used — and you can object to our using it at all. Write to [email protected] and you will get a proper answer within a month.

Be warned that the answer is usually going to be dull. Because there are no accounts and no profiles, we almost certainly hold nothing about you beyond what this page describes, and server logs rotate away on their own. Ask anyway — you are entitled to a real reply either way.

You can also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Data deletion

To ask us to delete personal data relating to you, email [email protected] with the word deletion in the subject, and enough detail for us to find anything there is to find — for example the approximate date and time you visited, and the IP address you used. We will confirm what we did within a month.

In practice there is rarely anything to delete. Spreuke holds no account, no profile and no history for you; the only trace of a visit is a short-lived technical log entry at our host, which expires by itself. If a request cannot be fulfilled because nothing identifying you is held any more, we will tell you that plainly rather than pretend to act.

Children

Spreuke is a general-audience reading site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, children included — there is no mechanism here that could.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version appears here with a new effective date. We do not announce changes any other way — this quiet page is the record.

One change is already foreseeable. Spreuke may one day carry advertising or analytics to help pay for itself. Neither is present today, and this page will be rewritten to describe them before either one ships — together with whatever consent choice they require. Nothing will start collecting quietly behind a page that says it does not.
