The hard way
Chapter 30 of 76
Sometimes life gives lessons on productivity in unexpected ways. An arduous circumstance was imposed on me once, by pressures of life. I spent a significant amount of time trying to find my way out, but when the chance to make things easier for myself came up, I suddenly became aware of all that I had achieved because of the hardships.
It was mind-opening. Those difficult circumstances challenged, inspired and motivated me; so I ended up achieving more than I would have if things were easier. That’s when I deliberately chose to go the hard way a little longer, to benefit from it.
I acquired many skills from my challenges. I also learned the value of dedication, sacrifice, competing against myself, and reinventing myself, even when things are well. This is how you avoid complacency and overcome unexpected hardships. You maintain an “always ready” attitude.
Deliberately choosing the hard way, even with an easy way within your reach, gives you a chance to benefit from the lessons that challenges teach, and the skills they impart.
