Dissociate yourself from them
Chapter 63 of 76
Not everyone is good to be associated with. You have to know how to choose the people you associate with and also choose those you don’t. When you know that you’re better off apart from a person, there is a fear of some sort that you may feel when deciding whether or not to keep ties with that person. It is rational to feel this, because you don’t want to push away the wrong people.
You need to learn to overcome that fear and dissociate yourself from people who do you more harm than good. There are people who motivate, inspire and encourage you to do your best in life. They smile when you are happy and empathize when you are going through tough times. They value your relationship and do the best that they can to make life enjoyable, for you and for themselves. Such people must stay connected with you.
Those who do the opposite must be dissociated from, before they harm you. Staying in touch with people who don’t value you will affect your self-esteem and make it harder for you to enjoy life. You shouldn’t be afraid to dissociate yourself from people who don’t deserve your companionship.
