What Is Love?

I'm married

Chapter 30 of 30

I just say I’m married, but I’m not

Three piece ring on her finger,
It’s hard not to notice it.
Such a beautiful voice, such a singer.
She drew a line, but I had to cross it.

She’s very appealing, and she knows it.
She moves around the room,
Eyes fixed on me.
She takes her time as she sings the tune.
She’s in control now, but I will be, soon.

The song is over and she takes a bow.
Her gaze still invites me over,
So I stand up and mouth the word “wow.”

She smiles and giggles…
I walk to her; ask her how
She does it so effortlessly.

She says that it’s not a conversation for now
And grabs my hand; she’s leading me upstairs.

I play around with her rings and she throws me a gaze.
I ask if they were a result of a vow
And again she says it’s not a conversation for now.

We enter her room; I throw myself on her bed.
She turns the lights off, and turns on the TV instead.

A movie is on, one of those chick flicks.
We snuggle up, and she decides to open up.

Much to the affirmation of my instincts,
She’s not married.
She wears those rings to chase away the undeserving,
Who think they can use her to get rid of their cravings.

She’s met a lot of them,
And ended up saving herself the trouble,
Just by saying, “I’m married.”
