Tomorrow can sound distant because it has a different name. In lived time, it is only the next group of hours. The same is true of a year: it arrives through ordinary days that seem too small to decide much on their own. Procrastination depends on that feeling of distance. One delayed day appears harmless when the future is imagined as a far-off place. Yet tomorrow is already being shaped by what happens before it arrives.

Time also carries uncertainty. The chance may change or disappear while action waits. Seeing tomorrow as close makes the present harder to dismiss. The first step does not bring the whole future at once, but it breaks the illusion that beginning can always be moved to another day.
