Money enables

I heard people talking about how someone started doing bad things after acquiring a lot of money. They went on to warn me of doing the same, and blamed money for it all.

Their assumptions made no sense to me. Money doesn’t change you, it reveals you. Money is just an enabler, whatever a person chooses to do with it is a reflection of their character. You don’t become evil because you get money, but the option is availed by money’s power and then you choose to be so.

Money is power, but what it does (good or bad) is up to the owner. The same dollar that enables a hungry child to eat and survive; is the same dollar that enables a pervert to take advantage of vulnerable children. The same dollar that enables a couple to host a memorable wedding is the same dollar that enables a person to cheat on a lover and betray trust.

It takes a mature mind to harness the power that money gives and employ it to productive and positive ends. Money brings both good and bad opportunities, and an immature mind can’t tell the difference and choose wisely, leading to poor decision-making and possibly self-destruction.
