Outliving

A mentally challenged person living on the streets can outlive most intelligent people. Why do I say this? That person never lives primarily to please anyone else, is never afraid to express himself and loves to live each day to the fullest, regardless of his circumstances.

Intelligence can make one stupid to the simple things in life. It is sobering to know that understanding can always reach unfathomable degrees; we have to deal with that which we can, and let go of that which is beyond us, yet we also seek to understand more. It’s a delicate balance, and it gets better with practice.

My idea of outliving is not living more years, but deeper moments. Seizing the moment and appreciating my freedom to live. Spending my time the way I want to, whenever I get the chance to, and making more time for that. Wearing my hair long because I like it that way, not giving even a second of my time to thinking about what people think about that. I live a life that pleases me; and doing that pleases some people, not all.

I simplify things in my life to understand the basics and keep my eyes on the bigger picture. It will be a shame to get lost in painting fine details of the wrong picture, using the wrong colors and brushes.
