Quiet your emotions down
Chapter 52 of 76
Emotions can get in the way of clear thought. When making decisions, it is wise to avoid listening to your emotions more than you listen to reason. Yes, emotions are important too and you should consider them, but they are less important in decision-making situations. Emotions are reactions and therefore they are subject to change, but decisions are inceptive and they are what our emotions react to. Knowing which comes first helps.
Both negative and positive emotions can cause you to make irrational decisions. If you manage to quiet your emotions down and listen to reason, then you’ll make the right decisions in the face of a lot of negative or positive emotions. You’ll have power over your actions and you’ll find that most people will come to you for help; a grounded person is a great problem solver.
Insults and setbacks should not get to you, and praise and happy moments should not blind you from making sensible decisions. A lot of mistakes are made when people listen to emotions more than intellect and reason when making decisions. Quiet your emotions down and then decide.
