How to heal

She’ll keep looking until she finds someone to show her how to heal

She sees him with another,
Her heart is subdued with pain.
She should have listened to her mother,
She doesn’t believe it’s happening again.

She goes home,
She cries.
He comes back,
He lies.

She doesn’t want to start a fight,
Though she knows the truth,
Even though she is in the right.

So she doesn’t confront him,
But watches him as he pretends,
To honor their relationship,
And steer a good thing to an end.
She was at her wit’s end,
But now, herself she wants to defend.

All she ever wanted was someone who understood,
What it truly meant to love,
With an infinite capacity for good.
You know the kind; that feels like it’s from above.

How much easier things would have been.
She would have given him more love than he would have put in.
All she wanted was some commitment,
And honesty; he should have said what he meant.

Her heart is broken already,
And a way forward she’s chosen already.

With her inner self awoken,
She takes the first steps,
Toward her own emancipation.
She leaves him, and therefore gains liberation.

Until she can once again feel,
Until she finds something real,
She’ll keep looking for the one that will steal
Her heart and show her how to heal.
