If only

If only you had a little faith in me

I didn’t ask you to fall in love with me,
It just happened, and neither did you.

And because it wasn’t artificial,
I considered what we had magical.
And that is what made it special.

We shared unique moments,
Enjoyed ourselves and made the most of our chance.
Many people talked about us, and passed many comments,
But we never let it get to us, no, not even once.

We went ahead and did what we wanted,
Determined to live and let live,
We continued with what we had started.

A breath of fresh air it was,
To meet someone who shared a similar passion as I,
Which is to enjoy every moment, and send a perpetual message to the world like the stars,
To they that appreciate, and take the time to look up high.

The message being that there is a better way,
In which two people become one in mind, and reinforce their own well-being.
It is truly wonderful and it is something worth seeing.

But then something happened along the way,
And it was my heart you chose to slay.

I thought I knew you,
But you showed me that I was mistaken.
But then you did me good, because now I do.
And as I reflect, I see that it is my mind you did awaken.

If only you had a little faith in me,
Then maybe things wouldn’t be as they are.
With minds changed, and hearts gone apart thus far.

If only you had the courage to just wait and see,
Then maybe I would have proved you wrong,
Surprised you even, and showed you a new definition of the word “strong.”

But it is what it is,
And I have moved on.
