What Is Love?

My oasis

Chapter 3 of 30

Finding a refreshingly different love at an appropriate time

I regain consciousness and pick myself up.
Swearing that next time it speaks, I’ll tell it to shut up.

It hurts so bad that I flirt with the idea of crying.

My heart’s broken.
It’s bruised,
It’s battered,
It’s punctured.
I try to be strong, but it’s too late,
I’m bleeding.

Unexpectedly though,
I take a short time to recover.
Bad things happen, I know.
But as I’m joining one piece with the other,
It all makes sense.

I was outsmarted, outwitted, outplayed even.
Feeling like I’ve been walking in a desert.
Ten, twenty, thirty days; I’m not sure.
With no water in sight to quench my thirst with,
Chances of finding some are obscure.

Each step I take proves harder than the last.
The sand burning my bare feet, all reminders of my past.

At just the right time, a glimmer of hope catches my eye.
My heart immediately responds.
I tried to shut it up, but failed, and I don’t know why.
It’s speaking in a thousand tones,

Saying:

Heart to heart we speak the same language.
She’s different, I’m different, but we’re the same.
I wonder if we’ll be able, if we’ll manage,
To cease the opportunity, get together and take advantage,
Of this hard-to-find, God-given, blessing.

To get what I’ve been wanting, what I’ve been missing, what I’ve been wishing… for.

Is it a mirage, I ask.
I need to know.
Is it real or is it just a mask?
Is this what I’m looking for?

I do get the chance to find out one day.
But what happened afterwards is just hard to say.
I don’t know what happened, and in what way,

But all I can say is that I guess my heart wasn’t wrong.
She is what I’ve been looking for.
She brings me joy like a beautiful new song.

One that’s unique, and only she knows the words of it.
Her originality shouts at me, and it’s very inspiring.
As for her character, it is built up stronger than any I’ve ever seen.
Her smile fills me up with so much joy that I can’t stop smiling.

Meeting her symbolized an ending,
The ending of loneliness.
Meeting her symbolized a beginning,
The beginning of happiness.
