Her choice
Chapter 18 of 30
She gives me unrequited love because she wants to
She gives me more than enough,
Yet I always want more.
She takes care of me when times are tough,
Honestly, she’s like no one I’ve ever seen before.
She understands that I’m not into chasing,
That my heart only goes to where it’s invited.
She likes to keep an open mind when it comes to the future that we are facing.
She gives me all her love, not expecting me to do the same,
And with an insatiable hunger for love, I play the game.
I asked why she loved me one day, and she said “loving you” is my middle name.
So I gave her what she wanted.
We spent time together, we enjoyed ourselves, we bonded.
I had no idea what we had just started,
But I just knew that both parties were happy.
She got what she desired,
A fact she frequently confessed.
I got what I required,
And not once was I ever stressed.
She always kept things simple, a trait I found very attractive.
And she’s here as I write this poem, seated.
As I recall past relationships that left me defeated,
That left me worse off, with energy and resources depleted.
As she sits there, she says, “Just so you know, I think you’re gifted.”
I say, “I know you do, but do you think I’m conceited?”
She says, “No. I think you speak your mind, and that makes you free-spirited.”
She’s not offended at all by what my poem will express.
A pretty face and a pretty smile, to hide her inner lioness,
That will hunt down anyone trying to harm me, the object of her affection and the target for her love unrequited.
