What Is Love?

You're not company, you're family

Chapter 19 of 30

You’ve become so much more

When things weren’t right, you did not hide.
You were there in plain sight, and stood by my side.
Showed me that not everyone has bad intentions,
And that I am worthy of someone’s attention.

To compare company and family side by side would be wrong.
Because one is clearly more valuable than the other,
So I would put family at the top, and company under it.

Only then will I start comparing,
And understand what it is that you are sharing.

When you took me out of my self-imposed depression,
I was nothing more than a self-destructive woman.
Hiding my feelings, and pretending to be fine, just for the sake of a good impression.

Regretting the day I trusted that man,
Let him into my life and into my plans,
Only to have him bail out on me, with a baby in my hands.

But then you saw it, and went through my heart,
Yes, you went through it.
Through the wall of denial,
Fortified with a deep refusal,
To succumb to defeat.

That’s why I don’t consider you good company only,
You’ve become so much more; you’re family to me.
