Weary eyes
Chapter 20 of 30
It’s me
I’ve been doing this for so long,
Trying to figure out if it’s right or wrong.
Should I give in and put my heart at stake?
What guarantee do I have that I won’t pick it up from the dirt, after its millionth break?
Those were the last questions I asked myself,
Right before I took my vow.
To love myself and never allow,
Anyone to ever hold my heart,
Because it’s hard for me to trust,
When it comes to that…
My heart.
Too many times I’ve given it another chance.
Love, that is; but I’m out of that phase now, no longer in the trance.
I see things for what they are,
Not what people want them to be.
It’s a standing that has proven worthy thus far,
And I will not change it, it’s now a part of me.
Because I have looked until my eyes dried out,
At what this life has and what it’s about.
My eyes grew weary, and I stopped searching,
Because I understood
That I have it already.
That which I am looking for, to give to my soul as food.
And it’s me, simply that and I am good.
