A true life

People lie for many reasons; some are good, some are bad and some are in grey areas. One thing I am not willing to do is to lie to myself. Whenever I try to convince myself to believe something apart from reality, I feel shame.

It is this feeling that reminds me of who I am. I am a person who accepts reality as I see it, and live a true life; true to myself. Given the choice to live a lie or to live a painful truth, I’ll choose the latter because, to me, living a lie is more painful.

It is from having this mentality that I live a life that is true. I primarily try to live up to my own expectations, and allow myself to live up to other people’s expectations only subliminally; never consciously.
