That's just great!

Well that’s just great; she left me

I open my eyes,
And look to my side.
A pillow and a couple of hair strands is all I see.

One new message on my phone, it’s a text.
She says she can’t do this anymore,
And that she has to go.

She’s found someone else, and that it’s too late,
For me to change her mind or ask her to wait.

Well, that’s just great!

It’s funny how good things do come to an end.
It’s like an unwritten law of nature.
You meet someone, and she becomes your friend.
But it’s a friendship that will end, sooner or later.

I don’t want to be pessimistic,
But life makes you that way sometimes.
If you face the facts and be realistic,
You’ll find that there are no guarantees.

No guarantees that you will not get hurt;
Or abandoned when you really need that person.
There is a chance your heart will be thrown in the dirt,
But if you look closely enough, you will learn the lesson.
