My baby
Chapter 24 of 30
My baby and I are kidnapped and being held hostage
She waits at the bus stop.
A big suitcase at her side,
And a baby in her arms.
It’s a cold morning, and the sun is about to rise.
Her baby is covered with small blankets,
She knows her son is warm as she looks into his eyes.
She can’t see her feet because of the fog,
Seen emanating from a scarf and monkey hat protected face.
A young man walks past her, he’s walking his dog.
She’s determined to go, to leave this place,
Whatever the consequences, whatever the case.
She hears the bus coming, a smile appears on her face.
She holds her baby tighter, and gives him a kiss.
She promises him that life will be better where they are going,
And swears that the place they are leaving is something she will not miss.
The bus turns the corner, and is now in clear sight.
Her heart races at the prospect of freedom.
Everything is going to be alright.
But suddenly, a voice yells from behind her.
A voice she knows very well.
One she associates with the suffering of hell.
“Where do you think you are going?”
The question rocks her to the core,
And flashbacks trouble her, of when she was asked that before.
It’s not a question, she knows it.
And she doesn’t need to give an answer.
All she can do is watch her mouth, or better yet close it.
And accept whatever fate brings her way.
Forgiveness, maybe.
Or punishment, she’s yet to see.
A quick grab of her arm leads her away,
From the bus stop, and back to the place of involuntary stay.
She misses the bus, she’s being taken away.
There’s nothing to do, and nothing to say.
Another woman takes her baby from her.
She curses at the woman.
Protective and jealous, any mother would concur.
Before she knows it, she’s back in the room.
Dark, filthy and lonely; a portrayal of perfect gloom.
This time around, she’s hogtied.
Because of that which she recently tried.
Her feet chained to a chair;
All she does is stare,
Into thick darkness,
Drowning in despair.
When will it end?
Is there anyone out there,
Who will come to my rescue and get me out of here?
