No one needs to know about us yet

I can see the fear in her eyes,
As she runs to me crying.
“I’m sick of his mind games and his lies,
He did it again; doesn’t he see that I’m dying?”

I stand at my front door,
Wondering why it is so.
That a beautiful woman be subjected to such torture.

Took her three seconds to run out of her car, and into my arms…
She says, “I didn’t know where else to go.”
I say, “It’s alright, that’s what I’m here for.”

She’s looking more hurt than ever before.
The tears, the mascara washing away.

But her moods lift immediately,
When she comes to me, and clings to me.

It’s starting to get obvious,
I’m not just a shoulder to cry on.
I’m now so much more,
I’m now the keeper of her heart, the store.
She hasn’t left him yet, no.
Because for now, no one needs to know.
