Pathological liar

A woman lying to save herself from unwanted attention and judgement finds unexpected love

Growing up, she always feared embarrassment,
Avoiding situations that might hurt her self-esteem.
She had no idea that she would end up in this predicament.
Heavily pregnant; the father nowhere to be seen.

Everyone around her is asking who the father is,
And in her heart she’s yelling, “Leave me alone, please!”

To the outside world she pretends,
And says he’s busy with work.
But she sees him as a jerk,
Who cops out when at his wit’s end.

She weaves her web of lies,
Meticulously so.
But I see right through her, it’s in her eyes.
And I know,
That not all is as it seems,
And she’s far away from the life of her dreams.

I tell her that I respect her strength.
To be able to go through so much on her own.
She tries to deny it at first, gives an explanation at length,
But soon opens up and exposes her heart; and its torn.

I tell her that the best thing to do when you fall is to get up,
And she is up, so she is moving in the right direction.
Because she is more than capable of building a family,
But she just had a lot of good intentions, wasted on someone undeserving.
